Your Formulas & Materials Are Private
Your data belongs to you. All your materials and formulas are stored securely with Convex and are only accessible by you. No one from the PureFumez team can view, access, or use your formulas or materials — ever. Your creative work remains completely private unless you choose to share it by publishing.

1Introduction
Welcome to PureFumez ("we," "our," or "us"). PureFumez is a web application designed for perfumers and fragrance enthusiasts to create, manage, and organize perfume formulas and fragrance materials.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service"). By using PureFumez, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Name (if provided)
- Authentication credentials (managed securely by Clerk)
User-Generated Content
We store the content you create within the Service, including:
- Materials: Fragrance materials you add, including names, CAS numbers, prices, IFRA limits, dilutions, descriptions, and profile categorizations
- Formulas: Perfume formulas you create, including ingredients, weights, concentrations, notes, and version history
- Profiles: Custom scent profiles and categories you create for organizing materials
- Tags: Labels and tags you assign to your formulas
🔒 Privacy Guarantee: All your materials and formulas are stored securely with Convex and are only accessible by you. The PureFumez team does not have access to view, read, or use your formulas or materials. Your creative work is completely private and confidential.
Usage Information
We automatically collect certain information when you use our Service:
- Tutorial progress and completion status
- Feature usage patterns to improve the Service
- Timestamps of account creation and updates
Payment Information
If you subscribe to our PRO membership, payment information is processed securely by Stripe. We store only:
- Stripe customer ID (for managing your subscription)
- Subscription status and expiration dates
We never store your credit card numbers or full payment details on our servers.
3How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the Service: Store and display your materials, formulas, and profiles
- Authenticate you: Verify your identity and secure your account
- Enable sharing: Allow you to share formulas or materials publicly if you choose to publish them
- Process payments: Manage PRO subscriptions and billing
- Improve the Service: Understand how users interact with features to make improvements
- Provide support: Respond to your questions and assist with any issues
- Send communications: Notify you about important updates, security alerts, or changes to our terms
4Data Sharing and Third Parties

Public Content (Only When You Choose)
By default, all your formulas and materials are completely private. They are only visible to you and no one else — including the PureFumez team.
If you choose to "publish" or "share" a formula or material, only that specific content becomes viewable by others with the link. You remain in full control and can unpublish at any time to make it private again.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PureFumez, our users, or others.
5Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it:
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
- Authentication is handled by Clerk, a security-focused identity provider
- Our database (Convex) provides secure, isolated data storage with user-level access controls
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor
- We regularly review and update our security practices
Your Data Stays Private
Your formulas and materials are stored with strict access controls. Each user's data is isolated and can only be accessed through their authenticated account. No one from the PureFumez team has the ability to view or access your formulas, materials, or any creative work you store in the app. Your data is yours alone.
The only time your content becomes visible to others is if you explicitly choose to "publish" or "share" it — and even then, you remain in full control of what you share and can unpublish at any time.
While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
Your formulas, materials, and other user-generated content will be permanently deleted when you delete your account.
8Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format (you can export your formulas and materials)

9Children's Privacy
PureFumez is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete that information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
